Apex has grown fast, and if you have driven along Salem Street through the old downtown lately and then out past US-1 towards the newer neighbourhoods, you have seen two very different versions of the same town. That contrast matters if you are looking for a pool builder in Apex, because a hundred-year-old lot near the historic district and a two-year-old lot in a new subdivision off Kelly Road do not behave the same way once you start digging, the same way lots vary across our pool builder team in Raleigh.
NOAT Outdoor Living has built pools, patios, and outdoor kitchens across the Triangle since 2015, and Apex has become one of the towns where we do the most work, alongside our Rolesville pool builder services. We are the only Desjoyaux Pools USA dealer in the area, and every pool we build, from a compact fibreglass install to a full custom concrete project, goes in with our own crew from start to finish.
A big share of Apex's growth over the last decade has come from large-scale developments near Beaver Creek and out towards the Jordan Lake side of town, not unlike the fill conditions we plan around in pool building work in Wake Forest. Those lots are often built on graded and trucked-in fill, which settles unevenly if a pool contractor does not plan for it. Meanwhile, some of the older properties closer to downtown Apex have thick red clay that barely drains after a heavy rain, which changes how we plan for hydrostatic pressure on the pool structure itself.
We test both conditions before we finalise a design, a step that is standard on every pool installation here in Apex. It is a basic step, but it is the difference between a pool that lasts twenty years and a deck that starts cracking in year three.
We design and build custom swimming pools to match the actual lot, whether it is a newer property in one of Apex's HOA developments or an older yard closer to town, much like the pool installations we've completed in Cary. Typical Apex pool projects run $75,000 to $150,000 and take one to three months to build after permits are approved.
As a fibreglass pool installer, we can get a shell set and running considerably faster than a full gunite build, similar to our pool installation projects in Durham, which has made it the go-to option for Apex families who do not want to wait an entire season for backyard time.
A number of Apex neighbourhoods built in the late 90s and early 2000s now have pools that need resurfacing, new coping, or updated equipment, the same way we approach patio installation work in Holly Springs. Pool renovation is often a fraction of the cost of a new build and can extend a pool's life by another decade or more.
We treat the deck, patio, and any outdoor kitchen as part of the same design as the pool, not something figured out afterwards, the same approach behind our patio installations in Raleigh. Given how much clay is under most Apex lots, we lean towards paver systems that can handle minor shifting without cracking the way poured concrete does.
I have seen more HOA approval delays in Apex than in almost any other town we work in, and we plan our permitting timeline around that reality instead of pretending it will not happen. That kind of detail only comes from actually building pools in this specific market for years. We are licensed and insured for pool construction throughout Wake County, and every custom pool builder project we complete comes with a written workmanship guarantee, and questions about any of it are always welcome through our contact page.
We also keep the schedule honest. Permitting on an Apex pool project typically takes one to three months, and we are currently booking new builds three to six weeks out.

Apex is a core part of our service area alongside Cary, Holly Springs, Raleigh, and Fuquay-Varina. If your property sits anywhere between downtown Apex and the Jordan Lake side of town, we already know the permitting office and the soil conditions in that stretch.
